Brave New World - Happiness :: essays research papers

Regarding the content, talk about Mustafa Mond’s explanation: â€Å" The key to satisfaction is enjoying what you need to do.† Mustafa Mond is introduced to us as one of the Ten World Controllers in Brave New World, of that Utopian, collective and settled world, set 600 years into future. This new world that negates the world we live in today, wiped out the Freedoms that we rely upon: the opportunity of decision, the opportunity of thought, religion and being. They have decided to condition their people in infant industrial facilities so as to guarantee personality, network and strength. The crucial precept behind the molding is utilitarianism, which depicts a general public that tries to make most extreme satisfaction. The individuals who are upbeat are believed to be productive and helpful to society. Mond’s explanation: â€Å"The mystery to satisfaction is preferring what you need to do,† applies to his ‘conditioned’ world, with abrogated Freedoms, however it doesn't make a difference to the world we live in today. Huxley shows how "identity" is set up in the Conditioning Center through the choice of the incipient organisms into every one of five gatherings. All the people in Brave New World have their personality fated by another person. This advances soundness by making a gathering of laborers whose inclinations are shaped by the state. I can't agree with this thought of ‘puppet creation’ where individuals can be portrayed as manikins and the state can be supposed to be their manikin ace who has an option to pick their character jobs. In our general public, this conflicts with the opportunity of being and turning out to be somebody you wish to be. Mr Foster tends to the understudies about Epsilons and notices, â€Å"We condition them to blossom with heat,† (p. 31). This can clarify why they are foreordained to like warm temperatures and why they emigrate to tropics to become excavators and steel laborers and in that manner advantage the general public. I should make reference to that I don't concur with their thought that one ought to be molded to be content with what they are doing or to play out the errand accurately. In today’s society, one may see that there are individuals who grew up close coalmines and without anybody compelling them to work, they despite everything feel like they ought to devote themselves to a miner’s obligation. They may have been naturally introduced to a miner’s family and upon their own will, may choose to follow their family’s strides.

The Article God Means Business - 1091 Words

God Means Business! The article God Means Business, discussed how modern Christian business owners can use their businesses as a mission (B.A.M.). The B.A.M. idea is in essence a comprehensive approach to testifying about God and Christ to others through business interactions. The case study concerning Bill and Page Mallory described the couples calling in 1997 and how they used their business ventures to serve God and others in the Philippines. Their missionary business interactions were used to tell people how God could transform them and their communities; spiritually, socially, and economically. The Mallory’s knew most poor people live in low income neighborhoods, and expanding the available local employment opportunities in the Philippines would be critical to raising them out of poverty. This paper will discuss how Bill and Page employed B.A.M. as a paradigm shift, an appropriate reaction to a world in need of salvation, to reach a vast number of people, and to pursue a profit. B.A.M. is a paradigm shift. A paradigm shift is a fundamental change in approach or underlying assumptions (Covey, 2007). According to the article, society tends to divide between the sacred and the secular. This is not a Biblical concept. Grahams Law Example Gas Diffusion-Effusion

Grahams law is a gas law which relates the rate of diffusion or effusion of a gas to its molar mass. Diffusion is the process of slowly mixing two gases together. Effusion is the process that occurs when a gas is permitted to escape its container through a small opening. Grahams law states that the rate at which a gas will effuse or diffuse is inversely proportional to the square root of the molar masses of the gas. This means light gasses effuse/diffuse quickly and heavier gases effuse/diffuse slowly. This example problem uses Grahams law to find how much faster one gas effuses than another. Grahams Law Problem Gas X has a molar mass of 72 g/mol and Gas Y has a molar mass of 2 g/mol. How much faster or slower does Gas Y effuse from a small opening than Gas X at the same temperature? Solution: Grahams Law can be expressed as: rX(MMX)1/2 rY(MMY)1/2 whererX rate of effusion/diffusion of Gas XMMX molar mass of Gas XrY rate of effusion/diffusion of Gas YMMY molar mass of Gas Y We want to know how much faster or slower Gas Y effuses compared to Gas X. To get this value, we need the ratio of the rates of Gas Y to Gas X. Solve the equation for rY/rX. rY/rX (MMX)1/2/(MMY)1/2 rY/rX [(MMX)/(MMY)]1/2 Use the given values for molar masses and plug them into the equation: rY/rX [(72 g/mol)/(2)]1/2rY/rX [36]1/2rY/rX 6 Note that  the answer is a pure number. In other words, the units cancel out. What you get is how many times faster or slower gas Y effuses compared to gas X. Answer: Gas Y will effuse six times faster than the heavier Gas X. If you were asked to compare how much more slowly gas X effuses compares to gas Y,  just take the inverse of the rate, which in this case is 1/6 or 0.167. It doesnt matter what units you use for the rate of effusion. If gas X effuses at 1 mm/minute, then gas Y effuses at 6 mm/minute. If gas Y effuses at 6 cm/hour, then gas X effuses at 1 cm/hour. When Can You Use Grahamss Law? Grahams law may only be used to compare the rate of diffusion or effusion of gases at a constant temperature. The law breaks down, like other gas laws, when the concentration of gases becomes very high. The gas laws were written for ideal gases, which are at low temperatures and pressures. As you increase the temperature or pressure, you can expect the predicted behavior to deviate from experimental measurements.

The Physics of Riding Bulls Essay - 1796 Words

The Physics of Riding Bulls Rodeo is a sport that came about by everyday work being made into competition. Every event in rodeo has a practical purpose; all but one that is. There is no practical reason to get on a bull; only the thrills, chills, and rush of excitement. It ¡Ã‚ ¦s more than a challenge between riders. It ¡Ã‚ ¦s a challenge between man and beast. Legendary cowboy Larry Mahan had an even different way of looking at it. He said,  ¡Ã‚ §It ¡Ã‚ ¦s not a challenge with the animal but with the weakness in one ¡Ã‚ ¦s self ¡Ã‚ ¨. At any rate, it ¡Ã‚ ¦s all about the challenge. The challenge is simple; stay on the bull ¡Ã‚ ¦s back for eight seconds while keeping one hand fee from contact with the bull or your own body. Well it sounds simple anyways.†¦show more content†¦This exerts a force in the opposite direction the bull is going. The force is the product of the bull ¡Ã‚ ¦s mass and its acceleration. With a rider on the bull ¡Ã‚ ¦s back this force then becomes a combination of the bull ¡Ã‚ ¦s mass plus the rider ¡Ã‚ ¦s mass times the acceleration of both which is attributed only by the bull. All the rider needs to do in this case is hold on tight. There may be some air resistance, but it is too small to notice. The bull further complicates the ride by bucking (a combination of raring, kicking, and jumping). Each component of the buck is relatively simple. When a bull rares, it creates a force pushing the rider backwards. When a bull kicks, it creates a force throwing the rider forwards. When the bull jumps, it creates a force pushing t he rider straight upwards. Each force is once again the product of how fast the bull changes positions (acceleration) and it ¡Ã‚ ¦s mass. In each of these situations the bull ¡Ã‚ ¦s mass is combined with the rider ¡Ã‚ ¦s. So, if the combined mass remains the same, all the rider has to do to counter the force created by the bull is move in the opposite direction as the bull with and equal acceleration. Acceleration equals the change in velocity divided by the change in time. The velocity is the change in position divided by the change in time. Both the bull and the rider can accelerate instantaneously. Therefore the velocity is the only variable the rider needs to adjust to the counter the bull ¡Ã‚ ¦s force. If the distance changeShow MoreRelated Physics Essay2033 Words   |  9 PagesPhysics You can find a law of physics in everything that you do. Remember by Rossetti Essay - 496 Words

Remember by Rossetti The opening two lines of Rossetti’s sonnet Remember introduce the idea of separation, but whether the speaker’s eminent departure is because she has chosen to leave her lover or because she is dying is not immediately clear. As the poem unfolds, the reader understands that death will divide the couple, and the initial hint of that is the phrase silent land to describe the place the speaker is going. The words seem to define a cemetery or individual grave more than heaven, and silent, in particular, implies a dormant state—an existence and a place that are neither joyous nor painful, pleasant nor sad. The opening lines also portray the speaker’s desire to be remembered, and she requests her lover to†¦show more content†¦Themes Imperfect Love The theme of imperfect love in Rossetti’s Remember is an idea based on the more obvious and often used theme of religion in her work. To a poet so devoutly centered on her Christian faith and love of God, the love of a man must seem second-rate, at best. A question, therefore, arises about her sincerity in the relationship she has with her lover— on one hand, she seems honestly to love him and begs him to remember her when she is dead; on the other hand, she appears a bit nonchalant in her willingness to tell him to forget her just the same. In the beginning of the poem, the love between the couple seems strong, and the overtone of sadness and grief stems from the notion that death is about to tear them apart. But is this notion a fact? Is the woman really dying and, if so, how much time does she have left—a few hours, a few weeks, a year? There is no indication of a time limit, nor is there any reference to what she Style The Sonnet In Victorian England and centuries prior, writing poetry meant writing with formality, adhering to a specific line length, rhyme scheme, meter, and so forth. The sonnet is one of the most popular styles of formal verse, and there are two main types of sonnets—the Shakespearean (English) and the Petrarchan (Italian). In its structure, Remember most closely follows the Petrarchan style, named for the Italian poet Petrarch Francesco (1307–1374) who made it popular. What is ERP Free Essays

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is software that potentially manages the various processes in business. Primarily, it works on a platform utilizing the various meanings of data within one database. Today, companies find that they have to creatively and conveniently respond to increasing globalization, critical changes in business trends, and the condition of the economy (Leyh, Gebhardt and Berton 913). We will write a custom essay sample on What is ERP? or any similar topic only for you Order Now Businesses need to be ready for changes in the government or society such as reducing financial compensation from both state and local governments. Therefore, organizations normally find that they have to come up with solutions that suit these conditions to enhance convenient administrative processes in business. Cloud-based ERP system Cloud-based computing gives the individuals who operate a database the access to software applications which are managed from the available computing resources like the memory through the use of the Internet. Since the introduction of this system, cloud computing has gained a massive reputation internationally. Over the past few years, several enterprises have adapted some of their resources into a cloud (Gunawan and Surendro 57). Notably, the trend is attached to the simplified accessibility to resources and easy facilitation of data sharing. In a significant number of enterprises, the management noted the system availed resources with the need of computing resources working directly in a specific system. The architecture of Cloud-Based EPR SystemCloud-based ERP system falls under the cloud software service. Typically, the average ERP involves installing the system in each terminal while the cloud-based type provides access to the resources without necessarily having the ERP installed on each computer (Gunawan and Surendro 60). Therefore, there is increased convenience on installation and ERP access although the integrity is maintained. An ERP system may also be regarded as the actualization of a blueprint availed by the framework of a business. In the case that the ERP transits to a cloud server, the architecture of the company similarly moves. As such, it is essential to provide configuration details about the technology architecture of an enterprise. Comparatively, the design needs to be defined by an enterprise as long as it uses a cloud computing model. Important to realize, this architecture should also depict better performance compared to the systems that do not entail the cloud-adaptin method. Consequently, to affirm that the ERP can migrate successfully, the blueprint proposed by the enterprise need to be critically evaluated as it is a fundamental need of the architecture. In comparison with the orthodox ERP, the cloud-based ERP comprises of a system where users can access resources through the Internet. However, the former relies on the availability of a Local Area Network (LAN) for the operation of the ERP in the enterprise. LAN connects computers from one organization within a single building by use of a network termed as an intranet. Multi-tenancy is a popular notion in software architecture mainly used in the cloud-based application. Significantly, it concerns a single set of applications used to manage the several users on one instance. The term implies that although the availed resources have a unique sole purpose, their design allows for them to remain mostly adjustable to satisfy the needs of the business. The potential to manage several users is achieved through sharing hardware and data storage. Despite the sharing of resources, the security of data needs to be upheld to avoid specific users from affecting others on the network. Therefore, there are four entities which have to be assessed. First, resource isolation is vital based on the fact that tenants make use of a similar infrastructure and code (Gunawan and Surendro 61). Second, the configuration aspects imply that data needs to have characteristics that are adaptable to suit various tenants. Third, the element of security calls for measurements to be put in place owing to the high risk sharing codes and data among tenants poses. Finally, the scalability concept appeals to the design and applicability of the software for to satiate conditions for reaching levels that can be measured. The most common approach for the multi-tenant concept is Separate Database. Arguably, it is one of the simplest models for isolating data as data for each user is kept separately. However, there is also a Shared Database approach where all tenants occupy similar database instances although they are all assigned an own schema. In this strategy, data from all users is kept in one database using a similar schema. The cloud-based ERP system allows its users to configure the service required from the host. This is necessary to fulfill individual needs and still upholding the integrity of data. The concept is entirely valid although the blueprint provided by an enterprise determines the architecture and necessary ERP modules. Such information is relevant for choosing the specific modules responsible for purchasing modules that contribute towards organizational development (Zhu and Dong 4765). The principal reason behind customization and identifying particular modules depends on the financial capability of companies. Importantly, the multi-tenancy concept allows the provider to avail specific packages in light os the needs of every tenant without having to alter the whole system software. Comparison to Recent Technological Developments While cloud computing is a significant step forward in business, many businesses have not yet adopted this technology. The ERP system focuses extensively on the infrastructure without considering the end-user. As such, it only enhances the reliability which is not as significant to businesses. The Blockchain industry is young although it is quite capable mainly since it offers solutions in the supply chain. The technology can implement logistics metrics concerning order deliveries. Unlike the cloud-based ERP system, blockchain overcomes the forth and back step issue. It empowers all members in a supply chain which fosters the development of all critical contributors within a system. A step forward in cloud-based ERP system implies two steps backward to the end user. The explanation relates to the reason why innovations are directed towards upgrading the interface and improving the performance. Companies Affected While many businesses are continually adopting the cloud-based ERP solutions, specific enterprises are employing the system given the minimal IT requirements it demands. Notably, this system is applicable for distribution, service, and nonprofit businesses. On that note, however, new startups and accomplished mid-sized companies stand a chance to benefit the most. Successful and established companies are likely to stick to the traditional technologies. Conclusion Cloud-based ERP system is one of the most successful software adopted by companies since the introduction. It allows users to access computing resources remotely although the Internet needs to be present. With a multi-tenant architecture, several users can operate a database in one instance without disruption. The enterprise specifications determine the nature of the system and the security of data needs to be sensitized. ? How to cite What is ERP?, Papers

Art for Artauds sake Essay Example For Students

Art for Artauds sake Essay The ideas of Antonin Artaud have infected and transformed the modern theatre. His tract The Theatre and Its Double stands alongside the writings of Stanislavsky and Brecht as a canonical work of 20th-century theatrical theory. But during his brief and unhappy life, Artaud was denounced by his Surrealist cohorts, roundly dismissed as a lunatic, and starved and tortured in French asylums. Stephen Barbers Antonin Artaud: Blows and Bombs offers an authoritative examination of the life of this cultural legend, attempting to synthesize Artauds disordered theories while rendering a credible portrait of the man behind them. The result is a sad and searing tale of a man whose Theatre of Cruelty bore the scars of his life of cruelty: of madness and addiction, of suppression and ridicule, and of penury and pain. By the time he was 22 years old, Artaud had already spent five years in a sanatorium due to depression. He later moved to Paris under the care of Dr. Toulouse (a specialist in artistic genius), where he soon developed what would become a lifelong addiction to opium. He became a card-carrying Surrealist in the fall of 1924, collaborating with Andre Breton and spearheading the Surrealist Research Centre in 1925. Due to his striking physiognomy he was also a successful film actor, playing Marat in Abel Gances Napoleon as well as leading roles in 22 other films. He supplemented his acting career by writing oddly fragmented poetry (although he rejected literature in his 1926 manifesto All Writing Is Pigshit) fomenting the aesthetic groundwork for his Theatre of Cruelty. Never one for esprit de corps, Artaud denounced the Surrealistic movement in 1927. The feeling seems to have been mutual especially after his official expulsion by Breton at the Cafe Prophet and Artauds quasi-Surrealist Al fred Jarry Theatre closed its doors in 1930. It was in 1931 that Artaud witnessed a performance of Balinese dance, igniting a storm of theoretical writing that would eventually become The Theatre and Its Double. He envisioned a Theatre of Cruelty that combined Surrealistic incursions into the unconscious with a painstaking directorial ordering of these unleashed elements. These staged spectacles (Barber calls them gestural events) could not be repeated because every spoken word is dead, and is crucial only at the moment in which it is spoken. Artaud wrote: e will not stage any written play. The spectacles will be created directly on the stage, with all the means that the stage offers, but with those means taken as a language with the same status as the dialogue of written theatre, or words . Having become aware of this language in space language of sounds, of cries, of lights, of onomatopoeia the theatre owes it to itself to organize this language, by making people and objects become true hieroglyphs. Blows and Bombs draws no equation between the psychic anguish of Theatre of Cruelty and the pain of Artauds own drug detoxification, but the connection seems unavoidable. Still, it is to Barbers credit that he allows Artauds theories to stand on their own, without diagnosing Artaud as either a delusional addict or a ranting schizophrenic. Sorting out Artaudian theory is a daunting task, but Barber correctly grounds Artauds radical thought in his ideas on the body. Artaud viewed the body as in a process of constant transmogrificationa grinding metamorphosis and equated stasis and formation with sickness. So, too, his theory is always dynamic but ungraspable, inchoate: Artauds unformed ideas slip through your fingers as you read them. Barber emphasizes that, in Artauds theatre, body comes before the word, before the world, and it is not surprising that Derrida and other post-structuralists are smitten with Artauds nontextual ideas about theatrical representation. .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 , .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .postImageUrl , .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 , .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997:hover , .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997:visited , .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997:active { border:0!important; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997:active , .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997 .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u9aaaadc59e9f714263db6b4e91f5a997:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Kathleen McGhee-Anderson: categorical denial EssayBut Artauds theories were as remote as the man himself. He had few friends and fewer lovers, although Breton remained a supporter up to Artauds death in 1948. Anais Nin described Artaud as a drugged, contracted being who always walks alone. His eyes are blue with languor, black with pain. He is all nerves. An itinerant loner (Artaud: I do not believe in associations), he traveled to Mexico and participated in peyote-induced rituals, convinced that the Indians embodied a pure and apocalyptic culture of Cruelty. He ended up in Ireland where he became unusually attached to a magical cane (with a metal tip, so it shot out spark s behind him on the sidewalk), which he carried to ward off demons. Eventually delirious, Artaud was strait-jacketed and incarcerated in Paris, where he was subjected to periodic starvation and electroshock therapy for eight years. Barber might have compared Artaudian thought to other theories of performance and representation, thereby locating Artaud both historically and critically and giving a broader perspective on his legacy. Still, Blows and Bombs is a much-needed comprehensive introduction to Artauds life and work. The last chapter documenting Artauds most productive period of drawings, recordings and writings is an especially cogent blend of analysis with compassionate narrative of Artauds final days. But it was not the tangible and earthbound relics that ultimately concerned Artaud, and so it goes with what he left behind. Barber writes that the testing of Artauds existence became his creation, and the life of the artist is perhaps the proper focus of what constitutes the Artaudian oeuvre. In No More Masterpieces, Artaud wrote: We are not free. And the sky can still fall on our heads. And the theatre is first of all made to teach us that. Blows and Bombs compels us to bear witness: to the life of a tormented visionary and, by extension, to the blood and guts of the theatre itself.

Week 3 Workplace Safety Paper Revised Essays -

Week 3 Workplace Safety Paper Revised David A. Keith BUS 642: Business Research Methods & Tools Instructor Donnie Smith August 6, 2017 Week 3 Workplace Safety Paper Revised Provisions by which provides safety within a workplace has much to do with the necessities to what is a requirement for the benefit of workers and management in preventing certain accidents from occurring. Whether these accidents occur from results of ones' negligence from employees or employers, lays in the hands of the employer to preventing further injuries or harm to their workers. If this lie in the hands of the employers' negligence will result within injuries or harm being done to that employee that cause the employer to be responsible for making sure they provide healthy plus safe working environments in case of accidents occurring within a facility. It is guided by "OSHA" that mentions the responsibility lying in the hands of the one who oversees their own operation of business (OSHA-Employer Responsibilities, n.d.). The Research Question What kinds of things makes working in a job safer when it comes to active training? Background Research Whether it be of ethical terms or just what happens within a workplace, a defendant deprives one of processes due and equaled protections by law and violation of OSHA because of injuries that happen on a property during work (Moran, 2014, Ch. 20). It is not in agreement with DCDC to what happens with medical issues/bills. Millions and millions of dollars from lawsuits occur daily on jobs because of injuries and other mishaps happening. Hypothesis In my own opinion, I must agree with Miss Edwards reply to what occurs during the hours of a workplace and what happens that we do not see on management property as well. In addition, responsibilities of one's health or medical expense over what may have happened on the job that required proper training. Accidents seem to happen on a job, with or without good health programs, and some of these occurrences might be from the negligence of the employer or employee. One of our staff members lost his balance and tumbled down the stairs and broke his thigh bone that ended him in the hospital and on workmen's comp for 9 weeks or so. This was not the fault of DCDC's negligence of the building stairs being slippery that caused the fall. It was said, he lost his balance and fell to the bottom of the stairs. From what was told, I do not see anyone being of fault to what happened. This may have just been one of those unfortunate accidents through the negligence of the person involved in the accident. Research Design HR are always ones who participate in the well-beings of all members of any type of workforce, and if anything should happen, they are the ones who give much to an agreement or disagreement being resolved. Release forms of liabilities hold DCDC responsible for what goes on or happens within a workplace, and without proper training measures to which all individuals are properly trained makes less calls for things happening while they are at work. On legal matters, it is not the responsibility of DCDC to take care of anyone's medical expense in ethical ways. During these scheduled training programs that takes place within one's property should be aware of accidents/injuries happening while they work. Sampling Plans Observations to which different tools are used comes together with forms of how data is collected for all types of businesses. These forms come in verbal or non-verbal ways to everyone's expressions, personalities, attitudes, and positions to who they are as a person. When meetings came around on first start applications of ones' interview came with rules and regulations for everybody hired. This structured form came with proper training and sometimes in life people move around with a careless/rushed mine of not watching, thinking, or seeing what lie ahead within their own surroundings because they find themselves too busy getting from one location to the next. This is reason why I take my time to whatever I do in life and have prevented many types of incidents from happening to me because I do not rush in fast pace for no reason. When it comes to the livelihood of all workers, employers should be sure to oversee their form of business from start to finish; so, when it comes time to open for business and hiring staff for the job they will have all angles straight. Sometimes pressure to get a job done in quick

Searching the internet will also provide plenty of stories about why relying on machine translators for business can be a costly mistake. But, if you simply want the gist of whats written in that one tweet or news article, then you have a few options and this post will detail some of the most popular ones.Google TranslateOriginally launched in 2006, Google Translate has over 500 million users translating more than 100 billion words a day. This tool currently supports 103 languages including Arabic, Chichewa, Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Malay, Norwegian, Portuguese†¦ the list goes on.Googles mission statement is to organize the worlds information and make it un iversally accessible and useful, and this initiative is extended to Google Translates features. The browser version provides you with the following options:Text- You can type the text to be translated on your keyboard. The text is translated in real time, meaning that the words are translated as you write them.Detect language- This feature can recognize the source language if you dont know what it is.Handwriting- You can draw letters or characters with a touchscreen, a tablet, or even a mouse. This is useful for translating symbols and characters from certain languages.Speech- Speak into your microphone and your words are translated in real time.Document support- You can upload and translate your files. In addition to the above, the app version includes the following features:Conversation Mode- Talk to another person with your microphone and your speech is translated in real time.Camera Mode- You can take pictures with your phones camera, and the text is translated to another languag e.Instant camera translation- The phones camera can translate visible text in real time. This is very convenient for translating public signs.Offline- Languages can be translated without an internet connection.Adding to the versatility is the fact that Google Translate is also integrated with other Google services; entire webpages can be translated through Google Search, and Chrome users can translate any page with a mouse click. Its worth noting though that not all features are available for every language, and the translation quality varies drastically between languages. This is because Google Translate originally used a system of statistical machine translation (SMT) which works by detecting patterns in documents translated by human translators and using that data to make intelligent guesses as to what an appropriate translation should be. Basically, like a parrot repeating human speech, SMT takes common wording and applies it to automatic translations. This system inevitably favo rs the most commonly used languages because it has more data to work with.Recently, Google Translate incorporated a Neural Machine Translation (NMT) system which can actually break down sentences, interpret the context, and rearrange words to match the grammar structure of the target language. This system is also capable of learning over time, producing continually improved results, and the difference hasnt gone unnoticed. The language pairs currently supported by this system (to and from) are English and French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Turkish. Although Google aims to apply NMT to all languages supported by Google Translate, this means that the tool still manages some languages better than others. On the flip side, you have the option to report translation issues to Google, which helps them to improve Google Translate. In short, Google Translate is a very practical and versatile tool undergoing constant improvement, but it isnt without its signifi cant flaws. Your mileage may vary depending on the language pair youre working with, and even NMT doesnt guarantee a perfect translation. Google Translate can be a very handy tool from time to time, but you should always keep its limitations in mind.Microsoft TranslatorMicrosofts answer to Google Translate and arguably its main competitor, this tool was originally launched in 2007. It works very similarly and has support for 60 languages and apps for Windows, Windows Phone, iOS, Android, and Android Wear. The browser version has these features:Text- You can type the text to be translated on your keyboard. The text is translated in real time, meaning the words are translated as you write them. It has a 5000-character limit.Auto-Detect- This feature can recognize the source language if you dont know what it is.Conversation- You can start or join a conversation with another person, with your text or speech being translated in real time. The app version adds the following features:Conver sation Mode- You can use your microphone to talk with another person, and your dialogue is translated in real time.Photo- You can take pictures with your phones camera, and the text is translated to another language.Offline- It allows you to download language packs to use the tool without an internet connection. In addition, this tool is integrated with other Microsoft products such as Office, SharePoint, Yammer, Visual Studio, Bing and Skype, which is one advantage it has over Google. Its worth noting though that like Google Translate, not all features are available for every language.Although Microsoft Translator doesnt have nearly as many features and language options as Google Translate, some customer reviews consider it a superior option. Microsoft Translator also seems to favor a more quality over quantity approach; while it doesnt support as many languages as Google Translate, the translation quality and available features are arguably more consistent across the languages it d oes support because Microsoft tries to gather a certain amount of data before a new language is added. Microsoft is also keeping up with the times, having recently incorporated a neural network system to their translation technology. So, while Google may have the lead in this race, be sure to check all the options to see which one works best for you.LingueeLinguee was founded in December 2008 by Gereon Frahling and Leonard Fink, and it was released to the public in April 2009. Linguee stands out from the other options for being less of a machine translation and more of a multilingual dictionary. As a result of the work of 400 translators, lexicographers, and linguists, Linguee has support for 25 languages and 234 language pairs, and it was used by 500 million people in 2015.The main distinction of this translation tool lies in how Linguee operates. Instead of simply giving you a translation for a word or phrase, Linguee also shows examples of the terms being used in context on the w eb. This is possible because Linguee uses web crawlers to search for bilingual texts and to then feed them to a machine learning algorithm. This tool has access to over 1 billion translations, which can be reviewed for accuracy. A free app is also available for iOS and Android, with audio pronunciations and offline mode.iTranslateAn award-winning app and one of the most popular choices (with 5,000,000 - 10,000,000 installs on Google Play alone), iTranslate combines a dictionary and a machine translator into one app. It supports more than 90 languages and has the following options:Romanization- iTranslate can convert non-Latin characters into Latin characters. It works with Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Greek, Hindi, Russian, and Thai, among other languages.Voice input- It can translate speech, saving you the time required to type it out.Voice output- You can choose between a male and a female voice, as well as a specific dialect for your translation.Dictionaries- iTranslate includes sy nonyms and alternate meanings. The Pro version adds the following features:Website translation- A built-in browser can translate websites in real time.Conjugation- The app can conjugate translated verbs.Voice-to-Voice conversations- Instantly speak another language.Offline mode- It can translate popular language pairs without an internet connection.iTranslate is available on the AppStore, App Watch, Windows, and Google Play.SDL Trados StudioA potential client once asked me if I use Trados. To date, I have never seen much need for sophisticated translation software to do my work, but I looked into it and I see the potential appeal.Vaunted as the worlds leading translation software, SDL Trados has a different function from the other options in this list. Instead of a machine translation, its actually a CAT (computer-assisted translation) tool, designed to support professional translation work. With over 250,000 users, its the most used CAT tool. Some of the most prominent features incl ude the following:Project management- It offers a complete workspace for translation, reviewing, and editing, as well as compatibility with hundreds of languages and regional variants.Translation memory- It builds a database by capturing your translations, allowing you to reutilize recurring sentences in future projects.Terminology management- It provides the tools to organize a term base for not only words, but also acronyms, synonyms, and abbreviations. This software also allows you to establish rules for their use, promoting consistent and quality translations.Machine translation- It can integrate Language Weaver, SDL BeGlobal, SDL LanguageCloud, and Google Translate.Aside from a consensus that usage of CAT tools increases translation efficiency, there are a number of clients expecting (if not requiring) professionals to use one, as I attested to in my personal experience. Personally, I dont think its mandatory by any means, but if you have a different opinion, there is a 30-day free trial available to let you decide if its right for you.Other utilitiesKanji Recognizer- This is a very handy tool. Just draw a kanji in a box, and the tool will try to recognize it. Also, it supports simplified Chinese characters.imTranslator Comparison Tool- This extension of imTranslator provides simultaneous translations from PROMT, Google Translate, and Microsoft Translator. It can give you an idea of which one works best for the specific languages youre dealing with.In closingThere are dozens of translation tools out there. I listed and discussed what I believe to be the best ones, but the list barely covers a fraction of whats out there, and there may even be a few options I havent heard of. I cant stress this salient fact enough though: Machine translators can be helpful, but they do not replace human professionals. As Microsoft themselves put it:Automatic machine translation is generally used where the quality-level requirement is not as stringent as where human transla tion is required. Use machine translation where the quantity of content, speed of content creation (such as user-generated content in blogs, forums, etc.), and budget (or lack thereof) make it impossible to use human translation. It caters to a segment of the market for translation needs that, thus far, could not be made economically feasible or could not be made available with a very short turnaround time.MicrosoftAs long as you know what youre getting and the limitations, translation tools take us one step closer to bringing the world together.

Bonds Definition and Examples in Chemistry

Bonds Definition and Examples in Chemistry In chemistry, a bond or chemical bond is a link between atoms in molecules  or compounds and between ions and molecules in crystals. A bond represents a lasting attraction between different atoms, molecules or ions. Why Bonds Form Most of bonding behavior can be explained by the attraction between two opposite electrical charge. The electrons of an atom or ion are attracted to their own positively-charged nucleus (containing protons), yet also to the nuclei of nearby atoms. Species that participate in chemical bonds are more stable when the bond is formed, typically because they had an imbalance of charge (greater or fewer number of electrons than protons) or because their valence electrons did not fill or half-fill electron orbitals. Examples of Chemical Bonds The two main types of bonds are  covalent bonds  and  ionic bonds. Covalent bonding is where atoms share electrons more or less equally between each other. In an ionic bond, an electron from one atom spends more time associated with the nucleus and electron orbitals of the other atom (essentially donated). However, pure covalent and ionic bonding is relatively rare. Usually a bond is intermediate between ionic and covalent. In a polar covalent bond, electrons are shared, but the electrons participating in the bond are more attracted to one atom than to the other. Another type of bonding is a metallic bond. In a metallic bond, electrons are donated to an electron sea between a group of atoms. Metallic bonding is very strong, but the fluid nature of the electrons allows for a high degree of electrical and thermal conductivity.

Psychological Perspectives on Organisation Essay

Psychological Perspectives on Organisation - Essay Example Hence, the knowledge of core psycho analytical concepts becomes important tools to the leadership for understanding the organizational behavior. The understanding of psychoanalytical concepts provides invaluable information regarding the socio-psychological factors that adversely affect the performance outcome of the workforce. Unconscious and repression, transference, envy and rivalry are few major concepts that considerably influence the human nature and consequently the behavior of the organization. Freud, the eminent socio-psychologist has contributed extensively towards understanding of these core psychoanalytical ingredients so that the one is better able to analyze human behavior within the prescribed social norms. Social scientists have corroborated that the psycho-analytical perspectives are important tools for understanding the hidden dynamics of human relationship, especially with regard to corporate culture, social defenses, leadership imperatives, motivation and other paradigms associated with organizational behavior (Levinson, 1972, 2002; DeBoard, 1978; Czander, 1993; Gabriel, 1999). The understanding equips th e leadership with the necessary knowledge to promote confidence building and strengthen interpersonal understanding with the group, within the organization. The theory of cognition tries to explain why and how the events take place and subsequent pattern of behaviour of man under certain condition involving emotional and metaphysical reaction. The role of brain and conscious and unconscious activities of the mind are seen to be the responsible for the general behaviour of man. The conscious and unconscious working of our mind is strongly co-related with our experience of the object reality. The conscious mind understands and interprets the sensations according to the partial or total recall of the events. On the other hand, sub conscious mind may or may not

Method police used to solve robbery with violence Assignment

Method police used to solve robbery with violence - Assignment Example Method police used to solve robbery with violence The following day the police began reconstructing the event that led to the shooting, which the officials of the event believed was an aberration in the tree canopied park behind the New York public library. Reaching midday, the police said they had one boy age 16 as a suspect held at a Midtown station. The boy has been charged before with attempted murder, assault and weapon possession. It was said that the problem began at 11pm on Saturday, when some people hoping to grab atleast a few minutes of nighttime skating stood in a snaking line by a temporary tent on the south side of the park. When police officer arrived during the shoot-out they rushed towards the scene accompanied by paramedics. They found the young boy lying down covered with a lot of blood. The first approach the police considered to use was to involve the community/individuals around the scene in helping the wounded victims. The leaders and the organizers of the event participated in the cleaning the problem by first taking the wounded victims to the hospital and then rescheduling and cleaning the scene for the event to continue. The use of involving the community and people around the scene always build some strength of believe that the police alone cannot substantially impact crime and advocate for the community to be a full partner in preventing and responding to crimes. The community also assisted in identifying the suspects and the way the problem began. Witnesses said that the robbers were heading to the library when a young boy started yelling of having scene guns. To divert the attention the robbers started shouting.

robert e. lee Essay -- essays research papers

Robert E. Lee, who was considered to be the greatest soldier fighting for the Confederate States of America, descended from a long line of famous heroes. Many of Lee's ancestors played important roles in America's history. His father was a Revolutionary War hero and a friend of George Washington. He was often referred to as Light Horse Harry Lee. Lee was born on January 19, 1807 in Stratford, Virginia. Lee always admired Washington, and was his hero as a youngster. Young Lee decided to become a soldier, partly because of the military tradition of his family. Lee enrolled in West Point Military Academy and graduated 2nd in his class in 1829. Lee majored in military engineering and supervised several army projects, he was named Second Lieutenant in the Corp engineers. His devotion and hard work in supervising harbor improvements in Saint Louis got him promoted to Captain in 1838. As a captain, his first experience in actual battle was in the Mexican War. He served under General Winfield Scott, and was the best engineer in General Scott's campaign. Lee's actions at the battles of Cerro Gordo, Churubusco, and Chapultepec received many high praises and earned him a reputation. General Scott claimed that the success of the war was due to Lee's bravery and skills, Lee was appointed the rank of Colonel. In 1582 he was appointed superintendent of West Point Military Academy. Under his service, James B. McPherson, Phillip Sheridan, and John Bell Hood would graduate from the academy, soon to be famous. Lee finished his duty as the superintendent in 1855, and served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Second Cavalry, stationed in Texas. In 1859, while serving in Texas, Lee was sent to command a group of Marines to suppress John Brown's uprising. John Brown was a northern abolitionist would believed a rebellion in the south would lead to abolition. He was taken down by Lee's forces. After suppressing the uprising, Lee was called to Washington is 1861. The succession movement had begun. Some southern states had left, but Lee's own Virginia was still uncertain. As much as Lee had supported the Union, he couldn't bear the sight of union soldiers invading and destroying his hometown. Lee had thought over this matter for days, and finally decided to resign from the union forces and offer his help to the confederacy. When Lee reached Richmond, Virginia had succeeded and they had a... ...hrew strong attacks at the union forces, but was repulsed with heavy losses. The battle of Gettysburg was the largest battle ever fought in North America. He was criticized for attempting an impossible battle, the union forces had and advantageous position and more men. After Gettysburg, Lee retreated back to Virginia for the rest of the war. With the loss of more and more soldiers, Lee had no choice but to start taking a defensive position. In the spring of 1864, General Ulysses Grant got control of the union forces and decided to bring Lee into northern Virginia and crush the confederate forces there. Grant rushed to Petersburg, hoping to seize the railroad the was supplying Lee with supplies. Lee had arrived first and Grant started a siege. In 1865, Grant finally seized control of the railroads and lee retreated to the west. Lee, realizing his loss of men, met Grant at Appomattox and surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia. After the war, Lee was considered a hero of the south, with dignity he accepted his defeat and preached to his people the necessity of peace and national unity. He later became the principal of Washington college at Lexington. He died on October 12, 1870.

Natural resource conflict

Before we proceed to our discussion about the context of the Natural Resource Conflict, it is imperative to take first into account the definition of two terms which are always a part whenever troubles and chaos may arise. These two terms are Conflict and Security. According to (Kernerman Multi Lingual dictionary), security means â€Å"the state of being, or making safe, secure, free from danger etc while conflict is being defined as something to come into collision or disagreement; be contradictory, at variance or in opposition; clash: a fight, battle, struggle, esp. a prolonged struggle; strife( dictionary.com unabridged). This two are sure to go hand in hand whenever trouble or in a larger scale WAR arises.I-   How and in what ways are conflicts over natural resources more issues of development and political economy, rather than security, traditionally conceived?Natural Resource Conflict is one of the most puzzling problems that the world nowadays is confronting. Some are resol ved through diplomatic manner while others are still being contested until now in the form of a hostile confrontation which hapless victims are usually the innocent civilians and children as well. Natural resource conflicts are commonly seen in the continent of Africa where according to a certain report in 1998 that 9 out of thirteen battle related conflict on Natural Resources had occurred (Scott Peg autumn 2003).The best answer to this question is that they are conceived as something that has got to do with â€Å"weak states, to the increased erosion of boundaries and to open or clandestine intervention from neighboring countries. There are a lot of examples to be considered in regard to this situation. One was the case of Sierra Leone, when that country was turned upside down by the atrocities of the group who called themselves the Revolutionary United Front. This group whose savagery and barbarism was confirmed by the presence of thousands upon thousands of people including chi ldren whose limbs and arms were cut off from their bodies.R.U.F. during it heydays period were using the vast amount of diamond deposits in Sierra Leone in order for them to purchase arms and ammunitions, that are necessary in their fight against the Country’s Government.. What is interesting about this was the inability of the government of Sierra Leone in arresting the major personalities of the group. In fact, what is quite ironic is that after the peace agreement. The government even let the R.U.F. to participate in the ensuing election. Instead of making them pay by sending them all to jail, for all the miseries and pain they have inflected towards the populace. If the government of Sierra Leone is committed and strong enough there is no reason why they can’t do it. What happened is a mere reflection of the weakness of the government.II- Internal and External Factors about the Natural Resource ConflictTalking about factors concerning the existence of Natural Resou rce Conflict, well, there are a lot to be counted as such.First we have to discuss about the 3 internal factors. These are the:1. Authority2. Ideology3. PoliticsSpeaking of Authority it means bureaucratic control and a system of rewards, which generates formal, but passive consensus.  About ideology it addresses a sense of mission, indoctrination, which results in formal but passive consensus.  Lastly is politics (power Game) it touches the result of temporary internal alliances and strong links with the external people of influence.  In regard to the external factors there are the so called:1.  Ã‚   Share holders2.  Ã‚   Financiers3.  Ã‚   Other individuals or groups of individuals having a stake in the behavior of the organization, such as political parties, trade unions, other formal and informal CSOs, powerful individuals with economic or ideological interests. We can cite as example are the sovereign Countries of Angola and Sierra Leone during the time when they were still struggling to resolve their respective insurgency problems. Both these governments at the time were hiring the services of Executive outcomes, a private military company. The purpose for these was to check the flow of diamonds from these countries which as had been alleged were perpetrated by insurgents in order to use the proceeds from this illegal trade in sustaining their effort of destroying the already extant government of both countries. It’s called illegal because the government had nothing to do with this trade. De Beers, the world’s larges trader of diamonds was even under pressure because some of its purchases were coming from these areas.III- The ActorsWhenever conflict arises it cannot be denied that there are a lot of organizations who are ready to share all their expertise just for the sake of concluding a certain conflict. Whether they are government sponsored or not, it should be noted that they’re here to help. One example for this was th e time when Kuwait was invaded by Iraq. The United States together with the assistance of several countries and under the complete approval of the U.N. was able to liberate Kuwait from the occupation of Iraq.IV-  Ã‚  Ã‚   The dynamics of Neo-Liberal CapitalismThe dynamics of Neo- liberal capitalism is an event that is greatly manifested by the massive growth of China, India and other countries which several years ago were still waddling along the seemingly unending mire of poverty and non-growth. It is the kind which leads to the resurgence of this so called globalization. It promotes drastic reforms concerning the economic status of one’s country and give abundant opportunities for countries to invest from one country to another.Naturally the more investments made to a certain country, the greater the economic growth that the recipient of these investments will experience. Like for example China. Its tremendous and dazzling economic growth started when it initiated the ref orm framed by the late Deng Xiao Ping. It opens China economically to foreign investments. The resulting effect is the way China is being treated nowadays, not only in Asia but throughout the world. However, growth sometimes will lead to certain negativity, like what happened to Japan in the middle of the 20th century. Because of its massive economic and industrial growth, it was forced to invade China and its neighboring countries. The reason for that was to gain control of those countries resources so that it can sustain and maintain the necessary materials for its huge industrial and economic sector.REFERENCES:Pegg, Scott. â€Å"Globalization and Natural Resource Confict- The New Strategic Environment.† http://findarticles.com/?noadc=1. 2003. Is the Daddy Longlegs Dangerous to Humans

Many people believe that daddy longlegs are deadly, or at least venomous. Its also common to hear that the only reason they arent a threat to humans is that their fangs are too short to penetrate human skin. The fact that this information is repeated so often causes many people to assume that the statements must be true. The truth, however, is that you do not need to fear daddy longlegs. Its also true that when two people are discussing daddy longlegs, they might not be talking about the same creature. Daddy Longlegs Three kinds of critters are commonly referred to as daddy longlegs, two of which are not spiders, and one of those two is not even an arachnid. The common name daddy longlegs is most often used to describe Opiliones, which are also known as harvestmen.  Opiliones are arachnids but not spiders. They have no venom glands and do not spin webs. They prefer moist environments, such as under logs and rocks, though some can be found in desert climates. The nickname might also refer to a crane fly, which is a true fly and a member of the order Diptera. They have six legs and wings and look like gigantic mosquitoes.  Crane flies are not spiders or arachnids and do not pose a threat to people.Sometimes, the name daddy longlegs is used for a group of spiders of the family Pholcidae. These spiders are commonly called cellar spiders, and they  do have venom glands. One common  cellar spider found across the United States is  Pholcus phalangioides  and is gray. Another is  Holocnemus pluchei, common on the Pacific Coast and in desert areas. It has a brown stripe on its abdomen. Both of them spin webs. Are Cellar Spiders Harmful? Even though  cellar spiders have venom glands, there is no scientific evidence that their venom can harm a human being. No studies have been done on cellar spider venom to measure its toxicity, according to spider experts at  the University of California-Riverside. Pholcid spiders do have short fangs, but no shorter than those of other spiders that have been known to bite humans. The cellar spiders fangs are similar in structure to those of a brown recluse spider, which often bites humans.   The show Mythbusters  tackled the daddy longlegs fangs legend back in 2004. Co-host Adam Savage subjected himself to a cellar spider bite, proving that this daddy longlegs spider is indeed capable of breaking human skin. The results? Savage reported nothing more than a mild, short-lived burning sensation. Analysis of the venom revealed it is nowhere near as potent as venom from a black widow spider, which can kill people, though most people who are bitten recover in 24 hours. Not all people who are bitten by a black widow spider receive venom. Some people just get a bite. All of this means that you do not need to worry about bites from daddy longlegs of any variety.
